Our Philosophy


At the Children's Nest we understand how important it is for parents/
guardians to feel that their children are being caredfor in a loving and
nurturing way while at work or at school.

Therefore, parents/guardians are welcome to stop by the Children's Nest at
anytime, during our hours of operation, to visit your child, to participate in
activities, to contribute any special talents or to share any suggestions that
you may have.

Since the Children's Nest was founded on the model that each "hand"
contributes to the success ofthe whole, our mission is to continue this
multidimensional approach in furthering the development of our center
and all of the individuals who are involved with it. 

 
		

A Brief History

On October 2, 1995,  opened its doors to serve the childcare needs of 
Blacksburg and the greater Montgomery County.  The center was founded 
and built by a group of dedicated parents and Ms. Gulbun Esen, the Director, 
in an effort to create a unique, comforting and stimulating "nest" away from 
home for children 6 weeks to 12 years of age. The Children's Nest was created 
through the enduring vision of many citizens in the community whose support 
and efforts culminated in the successful completion of our 122-child capacity 
state licensed center. Since then The Children's Nest serves children from six 
weeks to twelve years of age. We offer separate rooms and programs for each
age group. Van transportation is provided, for elementary school children, to 
and from all of the major elementary schools in Blacksburg.

Our Staff

The staff at the Children's Nest consist of loving and dedicated individuals
with training and experience in Early Childhood Education and Development.
We emphasize the development of a collaborative relationship between the
parents/guardians andstaff members in order to meet the needs of "our"
children in consistent and caring ways.

         

Our Facility


Our newly built spacious center is approximately 5900 square feet nestled
in 3.3 acres of land. The Children's Nest is located in a quiet neighborhood,
it has two outdoor playgrounds and plenty of space for children to run and play.
